Our Mental Health Chair set up a few volunteering opportunities for our members to give back to our community. A few of our members at RFU have spent the past two Wednesday Evenings at the Boys and Girls Club in Waukegan IL and we are looking forward to one more evening with the kids. We have taught them about the importance of mental health and how to cope with any stress they may be experiencing! We are looking forward to more opportunities with the Boys and Girls Club in the future!

Last month, our Mental Health chair created two poster presentations. One for World Mental Health day where she camped out in the cafeteria and provided awareness about Mental Health Day and how we can help those in need.

She also hosted a discussion about bullying prevention and how we, as future healthcare providers can help put a stop to it! Both presentations where very helpful and

Out of the Darkness Walk - Chicago IL

Two of our very own SNPhA Members (Nancy and Becky) recently participated in the Out of the Darkness Walk that was held on 9/22/18 in Grant Park in Chicago IL. They joined hundreds of thousands of people nationwide to raise awareness and donations that allow the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention to invest in new research, create educational programs, advocate for public policy, and support survivors of suicide loss.

Prevention Week with APhA-ASP

We partnered up with APhA and had an event about mental health and substance abuse. We were able to educate fellow students from different programs and had a little activity for students to participate in. We created materials from looking at new legislation about mental health awareness and promoting and funding new facilities and hospitals for people suffering from any mental health disease.

September is Suicide Prevention Month
