CHRONIC KIDNEY DISEASE IN THE NEWS!
Our CKD Chair, Zainab Sandozi recently put together a display for DMV Appreciation Week with information about how to become an organ donor through the DMV or the DMV's webpage. There was also information on the display about which organs could be donated once the donation process begins. Zainab discussed the six phases of organ donation in order for people to understand the process of organ donation if they weren't already aware. Zainab also handed out brochures that were provided by www.organdonor.gov with basic information that was on the display as well as stories about people who received an organ donation and how it impacted their life.
PREVENTION WEEK with APhA-ASP!
Prevention week with APhA-ASP. CDK Chair teamed up with Operation Heart to spread awareness about being a transplant donor.
We are very excited to have the first health screening event for CKD. Health screening services were organized my National Kidney Foundation at Mexican Museum of Art in Chicago on Saturday, November 4th. The event offered blood pressure, blood glucose, urine and BMI measurements. Our SNPhAMs screened around 60-70 patients. The event was celebrating the Day of the Dead in Latino culture with a concert, dances and other entertainments.
